Somerset teacher receives "Haugen's Hero" innovator award

First Grade Teacher Shannon Lawson received a "Haugen's Hero" award from Superintendent Jay Haugen at the Faculty Appreciation Breakfast on Friday, June 6. The award recognizes outstanding innovation by district staff.

Shannon was nominated for the many ways she has integrated technology into the first-grade curriculum and for leading staff development efforts to expand the effective use of technology to help students learn. "All of our teachers have stepped up their use of technology," said Principal Mary Bowman, citing Shannon's leadership and willingness to share ideas with having an impact that extends far beyond her own classroom.
